Pop-Tab Purse
It took 543 pop-tabs to create this purse!
The objective of this project was to create something unique associated with your major that employed a topic or subject that related to environmental science. We were placed in groups based on our major at the beginning of the quarter and had to work together to create this project.
First we had to come up with an idea and submit it to the instructor for approval and than begin making it. I came up with the idea to use aluminum soda can tabs to construct a pop-tab purse and other materials we already had at home so that the purse was created from recycled materials. The group would get together and make the panels using instructions I found online that were terrible. I ended up re-designing the technique we used to create the purse.
On the final day of the project, we presented our sustainable pop-tab purse with a presentation on how we created the handbag as well as how it related to environmental science.
This bag is both environmentally friendly and socially responsible because it is re-using objects that would otherwise go to waste. Even if you recycle your soda cans, it takes a lot of time, money and resources to re-use the aluminum which is a non-renewable resource.
